Heaven

Last night, I dreamed I was hiking through the Pocono Mountains. Of course, dreams are very distorted so for some reason I was hiding Easter eggs that looked like Sesame Street characters and there were kids riding their bikes everywhere. But I was hiking up the mountain, through the woods, and it was free and wild and glorious! Muscular Dystrophy is a progressive, muscle weakening disease. Unless they develop a cure fast or God intervenes, hiking is definitely out.

I may not climb a Pocono mountain on these two legs ever again, but I WILL walk through the gates of heaven. I WILL dance on streets of gold. I WILL kneel and rise, without struggle, in worship of Jesus, my King. If there are mountains in Heaven, I WILL climb!

I believe this like I know the sky is blue. It is amazing that we will be healed and made completely new in heaven. But how much more we are overwhelmingly blessed beyond measure to spend eternity with Jesus. He is ALL GOOD. There is no evil, no dark side in Him. He is not out to get you, manipulate you, trick you, break your trust. Jesus is light. He is Healer, Comforter, Deliverer, Friend.

Moreover, Jesus died on a cross for us for crying out loud. He paid the ultimate price for all of the lousy things we do. If you don’t know me, you may think I’m a nice, Christian woman. Let me tell you something, my friends, Jesus pulled me out of some dirty, rotten pits. I can still be a dirtbag at times and He forgives. Jesus meets us where we are with love and forgiveness. I want to be made well, yes, but if Jesus isn’t there, in Heaven, I don’t want to go!

My friends, if you think you know Jesus but are not quite sure or if you’d like to know him, I’m including some verses from the Bible that will point you to Him:

Your heart tends to run from God and rebel against Him. The Bible calls this “sin.” Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Yet God loves you and wants to save you from sin, to offer you a new life of hope. John 10:10 says, “I have come that they may have life and have it in abundance.”

To give you this gift of salvation, God made a way through His Son, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us!”

You receive this gift by faith alone. Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you are saved, through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is God’s gift-not from works, so that no one can boast.”

Faith is a decision of your heart demonstrated by the actions of your life. Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Call out to Jesus.

Thank you for reading. Journey with me.

  1. Amen! Preach it Katie! Everything is better when we are looking to our creator /father for help and comfort to help us live on this earth. It is such a pleasure to worship Him. Thank you Jesus for being our righteousness that gives us that privilege.
