In Loving Memory

Home. Drew is in his true home. Melissa said it best, “Drew is safe in the arms of Jesus.”

To those who prayed for healing, do not be discouraged. God chose heaven for healing. And, yes, Drew’s family and friends are full of sorrow, but God’s love will overcome and the Spirit will comfort and hope in Jesus will remain.

I have included pictures that Melissa has shared with me over the past year and one family photo I was able to take about six weeks ago. I will always remember that day as the most beautiful weather and most enjoyable day I’ve ever experienced  at the beach. God sovereignly worked out all the details to make a very precious memory for Melissa and their children. Also pictured is Drew very recently celebrating his thirty-second birthday with a group of closest friends.

Drew was very honest and candid, qualities I appreciate, in a person, very much. We shared a few conversations, mostly about faith and Scripture, but most memorable was that day on the beach. Melissa was down by the waves with the kids and I was helping Justin with a snack. Drew sat quietly, breathing it all in.

And then he broke the silence. He said with a smile, “Melissa is a good woman.” I agreed. He also expressed how much he was enjoying himself and he didn’t want to leave. I remember his expression of joy and absolute peace. He didn’t want it to come to an end.

Stumbling over words, I said that blissful days like these always remind me of heaven, except there it will be so much more wonderful than we can ever imagine and will, indeed, never come to an end. And the best part is that Jesus, who is ONLY good and ALL light, will be there.

He agreed. And now Drew is experiencing what was spoken of. Perfect love. Endless joy. Infinite peace.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. 2 Corinthians  1:3-5

  1. Katie I express my deepest sympathy to you and Drew’s family. It seems all have a good outlook even though they are sad . So young but the Lord has a plan for Drew I know he is sad but rejoicing in heaven and he has all answers now.
