Life Is No Day At The Beach

But sometimes ya gotta just drop everything and play awhile. Earlier this week, we escaped seaside to hang with Uncle Jason and some friends. To my boys, it was some good, old-fashioned, screen-less entertainment. To me, it was a great big giant exhale of concerns into the frothy waves.

For a moment, I was free of anxieties. Until the tide pulled them in again. Sure, happy moments can relieve our cares. But, for me, it is only in the Words of Truth where my most nagging thoughts can be thrust far into the horizon and drowned at sea.

But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”

“Come,” he said.

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
